Castalia resides in a binary system the secondary star, 61 Cygni B, has a separation of 85 AU's from Cygni A. This gives room for 

the habitable zone around 61 Cygni A which Castalia orbits. The climate of the planet is slightly cooler than the Earth, since there are

only small bodies of water on it's surface, it has a considerably larger amount of usable surface area than Earth. With it's rugged plant

life, a breathable atmosphere was created, combined with it's mild climate, it provided a world amenable to colonists.
